Hey,
I´m finally in Chile. It is awesome. I am having so much fun. My trainer is from Mexico so he is a native Spanish speaker. He speaks english but doesn´t speak it to me. It is really hot down here, but it is really fun. They speak so fast, it is insane. I can hardly understand them most of the time. But it is getting better each week. Dad is right about how they speak good spanish down here. In my district there is a Uraguyan and I don´t like his spanish very much, it is hard to understand. Everything is going great. My area is Puente Alto, and it is the most poor area in my mission, and maybe even of all Santiago. But that is a good thing, because from what I´ve heard the rich people aren´t very receptive to the gospel. There are two companionships in my area and we live in the same apartment together. It is fun because the other companionship is one of the Elders from my district in the MTC. Everyone is really nice and the Chilean people are really nice. Although everytime I get on the bus I feel like everybody is staring at me. Not in a bad way, just like they´ve never seen anything like me before. The food here is great, the bread is delicious. Every house we go to we get juice or some bread or something. President Morán is a really good guy. I can´t wait until I can actually speak spanish. That will help a lot. Right now I can catch parts of the conversation and teach lessons, that´s it. I got the Christmas presents but haven´t opened them yet. I hope everything is going well for you.
Love,
Matt
P.S. Oh yeah, and the Chilean kids are hilarious, it´s funny to listen to them because they can speak more spanish than I can.
